Alex first realized his love of handbags while studying Accessories Design at FIT.
Prior to launching the A. Toy brand, Alex spent several dedicated years honing his craft while working for Botkier, Gryson, Olivia Harris and MCM. Alex continues to design for TriBeCa Design creating and contributing to the bag and accessory collections of many well-known brands.
A. Toy bags and accessories are the embodiment of artisanal craftsmanship. Alex combines functional design with Italian materials in innovative and unique ways. His collection is an experience in contrasts – supple skins, distressed, hand finished and shaped intersexually in beautiful, utilitarian designs.
“I wanted to create accessories that were attractive to both men and women. In addition to being highly functional, each bag has hidden details that its owner will discover and appreciate. With such an abundance of product in today’s market overloaded with faux bells and whistles I wanted my bags to distinguish themselves from the masses by being distinctively void of pretension. I believe there is a select group of people who want something that is truly special, unique and extraordinary. Producing in limited quantities ensures the rarity of the design, guaranteeing that only a limited number of people will be carrying any given style.”
Only 99 pieces of each bag are produced. The designs are retired each season and will never be repeated again in that unique combination of leather, color and trim.
